The Classical Age
You know how, if one were to divide the scalp into thirds,
the top loses out to the temples;
it reminded me not to forget,
as if youth takes flight from a runway strip
atop disheveled curls
thinning to a lesser extent,
that you and I met
with a full head of hair,
and that I must remake
the strands making waves
beneath dead Patroclus’s helmet
again, before all detachment
takes place.
